The Sac State Ski Swap, in its 47th year, is an annual tradition for thousands of skiers and snowboarders looking for bargain gear and clothing.
47th annual Sac State Ski Swap
This year’s event, set for Sunday, Oct. 21, in the University Union Ballroom, offers more than 5,000 new and used items from Northern California ski shops, including skis, poles, boots, boards and outerwear. Everything will be discounted 30 to 50 percent.
“Most of it hasn’t been ridden and is brand-new. It’s the shops’ opportunity to get rid of inventory left over from last season,” says Ski Swap coordinator Jordan Clegg, a senior business major.
Individuals also can sell their personal ski and snowboard gear (no clothing accepted.) Registration for consignment sales is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Representatives from Sierra-at-Tahoe, Northstar, Heavenly, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows will be on hand during the Ski Swap to talk about their ski resorts and season passes.
Admission fees and a percentage of sales at the Ski Swap go to the Sacramento State Ski and Snowboard Club to pay for its annual ski trip (this year to Whistler, British Columbia, Canada) and other club activities throughout the year.
