The exhibit includes the handmade paper work “The Spiral” by Florence M. Jones.

Sacramento State’s former art students are filling the University’s Else Gallery with paintings, sculpture, animation, computer-generated art – just about every medium – June 3-28 for the annual Art Alumni Show.

The juried exhibit comprises works by 27 alumni artists, including Gary Miller, Roberta Rousos, Laura Caron and many more.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. A reception and awards presentation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7.

Pieces include two works by Sue Anne Foster using cut steel and wood. A pair of screens mounted on the walls will accommodate animated art, including “Hero” by Mikko Lautamo. And Richard Ashby will display the computer-generated “Night Passage.”

Many of the alumni entered in the show are established artists in the region whose work is often displayed in local galleries.

The show is being judged by Sacramento State Art Instructor Meech Miyagi and is sponsored by the Art Alumni Chapter of the Sac State Alumni Association under the guidance of chapter President Florence M. Jones.

“The work in this show is quite diversified,” Jones says. “There’s so much to see.”
