In addition to vintage vinyl and compact discs, they’re also accepting DVDs, LPs, 45s, 78s and video games, as well as a variety of tapes: VHS, cassettes, eight tracks and reel-to-reel. They will also take used stereo equipment.

Donations can be dropped off through Friday, June 7, at participating Cost Plus World Market stores in the Sacramento, Stockton/Modesto and Reno/Tahoe areas and at Tomes bookstore in Grass Valley. Donated goods may be tax deductible.

The sale is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23, at Howe ’Bout Arden shopping center, Howe Avenue at Arden Way, Sacramento. The “record store” will be in Suite 172, roughly between Nordstrom Rack and Baja Fresh restaurant. Admission is free. All proceeds will go to support the nonprofit Capital Public Radio.

A preview sale and party are set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 21, in Suite 172. Admission is $20 per person. Nick Brunner, host of Capital Public Radio’s Blue Dog Jam, will be on hand to provide musical entertainment. Food and wine will be served.

“Our weekend-long pop-up record store is one of our biggest and most fun community events of the year,” says Constance Crawford, the station’s director of marketing and public relations. “It’s a real delight to watch music-lovers thumb through boxes and boxes of treasures.”
