Sacramento State’s Homecoming was truly a spirit-raising experience this year. Not only did Saturday’s football game result in a satisfying 37-21 victory over Northern Colorado, but the week leading up to the game illustrated just why current and former students take such pride in being Hornets.

Students lined up on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Thank-a-Thon booth, writing notes of appreciation to alumni who continue to support the University through the years. On Thursday, Head Coach Marshall Sperbeck and the football team were treated to an enthusiastic display from fans during the annual Homecoming rally outside the Hornet Bookstore. On Friday, our most experienced alums, the Golden Grads, gathered for a luncheon and reminiscing. And Saturday was the perfect time for prospective students to visit the campus with their families for Future Hornet Day, as the younge people not only received valuable information about applications and academics, but also witnessed Hornet spirit at its loudest and proudest.

The Sacramento State Alumni Center parking lot began filling up early Saturday afternoon as students and alumni brought out the barbecue grills and wore their finest green and gold. The tailgating, annual player walk and golf cart float parade got everyone fired up for a big game that capped a Homecoming experience all Hornets will remember and treasure. – Craig Koscho
