Jana Noel, a professor of teacher education at Sacramento State, has received a 2013 Critics Choice Award from the American Educational Studies Association for a book she edited, Moving Teacher Education into Urban Schools and Communities: Prioritizing Community Strengths (Routledge, 236 pages; $47).

Professor William J. Murphy will present Sacramento State’s Regenerative Medicine Lecture, “Attacking Cancer Stem Cells with Immunotherapy – Potential for Cure?” from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the University Union Ballroom. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Sac State releases fall enrollment figures

Sacramento State welcomed 28,818 students to the campus this fall. That’s up slightly from the 28,549 students enrolled in Fall 2012. This year’s incoming freshman and transfer classes are the largest in Sacramento State history, numbering 3,321 new freshmen and 4,811 new transfer students.
