Sac State joins bid for gubernatorial debate

Printer-friendly version

Sacramento State and its auxiliary Capital Public Radio have joined The Sacramento Bee and KCRA 3 to invite Democratic candidate Gov. Jerry Brown and Republican candidate Neel Kashkari to debate this fall.

The group has proposed a debate to be held in September on the campus of Sacramento State, with the live broadcast to be distributed to television, radio, digital and higher education platforms statewide.  In addition, it is anticipated the debate will include a live translation for Spanish-language viewers across the state.  A 2010 gubernatorial debate sponsored by this media consortium netted an audience of more than 2 million people statewide watching on TV or listening on the radio or online.

Sacramento State co-hosted the 2006 statewide gubernatorial debate and also co-hosted the 2003 gubernatorial recall debate.
