Sacramento State is committed to maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability. The University supported the Richard McKee Transparency Act (SB 8), which went into effect Jan. 1, 2012.
The legislation reflects an agreement to improve transparency and accountability of all campus auxiliaries while retaining the ability to seek non-state funds to support programs and services for students. The bill also maintains the state’s long-term commitment to protect the privacy of donors and volunteers.
Even before the legislation passed, auxiliaries at Sacramento State were subject to extensive oversight and strict transparency standards, including the public’s right to inspect or otherwise have access to a wide range of information. Each of Sacramento State’s auxiliaries is governed by an independent board that holds open meetings.
