Scientists from Sacramento State, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are teaming up on a project that will provide research experience for Biology undergraduates. The River City Science Project, set to begin in June, could lead to improving the health of the American River. The project recently won a nearly $600,000 award from the National Science Foundation, with an additional $300,000 from the W.M. Keck Foundation. Those and other grants have positioned Sac State to "(adopt) the American River as kind of a living science laboratory," says Thomas Landerholm, vice chair of the Biological Sciences Department.
