The University’s logo and accompanying identity package reflect the most important values and strengths of Sacramento State.

Consistent application and precise production of the University's logos will identify and reinforce public awareness of Sacramento State, its Colleges, departments and other areas. The proper use of the logos with the other elements of the identification program establishes a unique and effective visual style.

University Names, Logos and Symbols Usage Agreement (Read before download)

The names, logos and symbols presented on this site are registered trademarks owned exclusively by California State University, Sacramento. University faculty, staff and delegates thereof may use these logos for official University business, and for non-commercial purposes at University-sponsored events, on the condition that they abide by the terms outlined in the Sacramento State Identity Style Guide (full-length guide 2005, quick guide 2008). This includes submitting materials to University Marketing for review to ensure compliance with identity standards and University policies.

All other use of the university's name and its visual identity is prohibited without the express permission of an official University representative. Any non-university third parties, entities or organizations wishing to use these images must request permission from University Marketing at (916) 278-4381 or universitymarketing@csus.edu.

By clicking the logo download link below, you acknowledge that you have read and will adhere to the University’s guidelines for usage as identified in the Sacramento State Identity Style Guide. Failure to follow the guidelines may result in withdrawal of permission to use these elements and denial of the ability to distribute any publications or other materials which use these elements in an unauthorized manner. The University names, logos and symbols may not be incorporated into any other design to create a new symbol, without permission from University Marketing.

Official Sacramento State merchandise, including clothing, is the purview of University Enterprises, Inc . Before producing any item for sale that includes Sac State trademarks, you must have prior approval from Trademark Licensing. All materials using the Sacramento State logo must be approved by University Marketing. This ensures that your material is in compliance with all University identity standards. Please allow at least two working days for all requests. Special permission is required to use the official seal.

Please contact University Marketing, (916) 278-4381 or universitymarketing@csus.edu, to request a unit or department logo. In your request, specify the unit or department name for the logo. Proper requests will be completed within five workings days.

The presentation of the University’s formal name should be just as consistent as the presentation of the logo and official seal. The University’s formal name can be presented in one of two styles shown above, vertical or horizontal. The stacked configuration is the only instance where the comma is not necessary. Otherwise, a comma should always fall between “University” and “Sacramento.” 


Official Seal

The official seal is intended for use on formal materials and for formal occasions. Examples include diplomas, certificates or medals given on behalf of the University, programs for presentations by dignitaries and collateral for formal events. The official seal is also an option for campus business cards and letterhead.

To ensure compliance and proper use of the official seal, all units must have the high resolution version by contacting the Office of University Marketing at (916)278-2140 or universitymarketing@csus.edu. Please allow an approval time of five working days so that printing and other deadlines can be met.
