PURPOSE:

The purpose of this is event is to establish a consistent recruitment tool for Black/African Americans in the Greater Sacramento community, K-12 and Community College students to attend CSU, Sacramento. In addition, the event is an opportunity to engage current students on campus and to celebrate Black/African American culture on this campus to increase retention and graduation rates.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To establish an annual recruitment/celebratory event at Sac State that targets African Americans in the Greater Sacramento area
  2. To increase college readiness for African American students
  3. To increase retention/graduation rates for incoming and current African American students
