DECLARING OR CHANGING YOUR
MAJOR
Undergraduates: You declared a major
when you filled out your application to Sacramento State. If you change
your mind, you should file a Change of Academic Program form promptly.
Otherwise, advising holds may be set by the wrong department, and
you may be kept out of classes in your intended major because some
classes are restricted to majors only. Obtain a Change of Academic
Program form at Admissions and Records or on-line.
Are Approvals Required? The department chairperson’s signature is
required to declare any of the following undergraduate majors (including
changes from the pre-major). Obtain forms at the department office.
Graduates: To become classified into
a master’s degree program, obtain a classification form at the Office
of Graduate Studies, RFC-206. To change to unclassified or second
bachelor’s degree status, file a Change of Academic Program form at
Admissions and Records.
*Nursing and Graphic Design are considered “impacted” majors. This
means that in addition to being admitted to the University, new and
continuing students who wish to major in Nursing or Graphic Design
must also meet secondary admission criteria stipulated by the department.
