SPECIAL NOTICES
ACADEMIC DISMISSAL, RETURN FROM - Students who are
academically dismissed must file an Appeal for Readmission to return
after their mandatory absence of one or more semesters. Students who
have stopped out two or more semesters must also file an application
for readmission at http://www.csumentor.edu. The application filing
period for fall semesters is October 1 - November 30; for spring semesters,
the period is August 1-31. Visit this website for procedures and deadlines:

ADDRESS – It is extremely important for Admissions and Records, Financial Aid and the Library Circulation Department to have a current address for mailing the CASPER Invitation to Register and Schedule Confirmation, overdue book notices, fee invoices, financial aid checks and other important notices. Change your address(es) on CasperWeb or on a Data Change Form at Admissions and Records.
ATTENDANCE – Instructors have the right to administratively remove any student who, during the first two weeks of instruction, fails to attend any two class meetings (for courses that meet two or more times a week), or one class meeting (for courses that meet once a week). It is therefore especially important that students contact instructors in advance regarding absences during the add/drop period. However, do not assume instructors will turn in official drops. It is the responsibility of each student to officially drop any scheduled courses he or she is not attending. Failure to do so will result in penalty grades ("WU" or "F").
ADVISING FILE – Students should assemble a personal advising folder of records from transfer schools and CSUS credit evaluations. CSUS academic records for most students are available to advisors on-line and to students on CasperWeb. Advising transcripts that must be ordered from the Transcripts Office are subject to standard fees and processing time.
CONTINGENCY PLAN – CASPER is not normally available on Saturday, Sunday or academic holidays. However, it may be activated on these days if scheduled registration days are lost as a result of power failure or equipment malfunction.
ENROLLMENT CERTIFICATION – Students who require certification of enrollment may make their requests at the Admissions and Records Counter. Official certifications may not be issued by any other campus office nor obtained from the Web. Outside agencies are directed to our servicer, the National Student Clearinghouse (703-742-4200) to obtain verification of Sac State degrees awarded. Graduation data files are submitted to NSC approximately eight weeks after each semester's degree conferral date.
GRADE REPORTS – Call 278-8011. Students may also view their grades on CasperWeb and at on-campus Casper.NET kiosk. Although CSUS does not mail a printed grade report, the kiosks feature a print capability for students who require a paper copy. Casper.NET is available 24 hours a day and weekends. If you have any difficulty obtaining your grades through Casper.NET, call Admissions and Records, 278-3901. CasperWeb is available 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturdays.
GRADUATE STUDENT CONTINUOUS ENROLLMENT – Students are not permitted to enroll for more units of Thesis or Individual Master’s Study than the total number of units approved on the Application for Advancement to Candidacy. If you are a graduate student finishing your thesis, project or comprehensive examinations, check with your department to see if you need to apply for “Continuous Enrollment.”
GRADUATES – All graduating seniors must file an application for readmission with the Office of Graduate Studies if they wish to attend CSUS after earning the bachelor’s degree.
NAME CHANGES – Students who have changed their names must (1) file an official notice at the Admissions and Records Counter and (2) notify all their instructors if the change occurs after the semester begins. Financial aid applicants must show proof to the Financial Aid Office of their name change through the Social Security Administration.
SENIORS – If you have completed at least 90 units or have two more semesters before graduation, file a graduation application at the Admissions and Records Counter. (Click here for filing deadlines.)
SPECIAL PROBLEMS, FIELD WORK, THESIS, PROJECT COURSES – Enrollment in these courses is by department permission only. When appropriate paperwork has been filed with the department, authorization to enroll will be posted to CASPER and the student may add the course no later than September 12, 2003 for Fall 2003; February 6, 2004 for Spring 2004. Registration fees should be paid during the CASPER period to avoid the Late Registration fee. .
"WU" GRADE DELETION POLICY - In the first semester in which you receive one or more "WU" grades, you may petition to remove the effect from your GPA. The six-month time limit for filing such petitions was eliminated in August 2004. Deletion petitions may be submitted any time prior to the award of the degree; none are accepted thereafter. For complete policy, click on the web: www.csus.edu/Catalog/Current Catalog/Index/Search/Grade Deletion Policy.
VETERANS – All veterans receiving
education benefits are required to submit the Veteran’s Information
Card (VIC) each semester they register at CSUS. If you do not file
the VIC, you will not receive education benefits. VICs may be obtained
and filed at the Veterans’ Affairs Office at Admissions and
Records. Veterans’ counselors are available to assist in filing
requests for benefits. Please call ahead for office hours (278-6733).
