REFUND POLICY
WITHDRAWING FROM ALL CLASSES:
Students who officially withdraw from the University prior to the first day of instruction will receive a 100% refund, minus a $10 processing fee, of registration
and non-resident tuition. Beginning with the first day of instruction through the 60% date of the semester, refunds will be on a pro-rata basis utilizing the official withdrawal date. Students are not eligible to receive a refund for withdrawing after the 60% date. (Refer to the refund deadline dates noted in this section.) The pro-rata refund will be calculated as the proportion represented
by the number of calendar days from the first day of the semester to the date of withdrawal. Refunds will first be applied to any outstanding debt owed to the University.
DROP IN UNITS/CHANGE IN FEE CATEGORY:
Students may add and drop classes through the end of the second week of the semester. Resident students who drop from full to half time (Change in Fee Category) by the end of the second week of the semester are eligible to receive a 100% refund of the difference in fees, minus a $10 processing fee. Non-resident students who drop units by the end of the second week of the semester are eligible to receive a 100% refund of the difference of non-resident tuition.
Resident and Non-Resident students who drop after the end of the second week of the semester are not eligible to receive a drop in units refund. (Refer to the Student Financial Services Center Web site at http://www.csus.edu/sfsc for specific refund deadline dates.)
Adding or dropping courses beginning with the first day of instruction could result in additional charges, even if you end up with the same number of units. This applies to both resident and non-resident tuition charges. Refunds will first be applied to any outstanding debt owed to the University.

INCREASE IN UNITS-FEE PAYMENT PROCEDURE 1. Students adding units which place them in a higher fee category, will be required to pay additional fees. 2. Failure to pay additional fees by the due date will result in the student having to pay a $10.00 administrative fine in addition to the fee amount. Financial “holds” will be placed on the academic records of students failing to pay their fees. 3. Statements are available on the invoice tab on My Sac State Student Center under Finances - Account Inquiry. 4. Students whose fees are partially or fully paid to the University by another agency must bring their statement to the Student Financial Services Center in LSN-1003. These students must provide the agency name to be billed for a portion or all of the additional fees. FINANCIAL AID REFUNDS/RETURN OF TITLE IV AID A student who receives aid and withdraws, drops out, is expelled, etc., during or after the first day of instruction will be reviewed in accordance with the Federal Title IV Return of Title IV Policy. The federal regulations require that Sacramento State provide for a refund using the pro rata calculation if the student withdrew on or before the 60% date of the enrollment period. Students who withdraw after the 60% date will have refunds calculated in accordance with the policy, referenced in California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Sections 41802 (resident) and 41913 (non-resident). The refund amount is always determined by the student’s withdrawal date. Students are required to officially withdraw from the University. In the event that the student’s progress does not reflect attendance (i.e., 0.0 GPA resulting from “I”, “U”, “WU”, “NC”, and “F” grades), the unofficial withdrawal date used will be the mid-point of the payment period for which aid was disbursed or a date documented by Sacramento State. Under a pro-rata refund, the percentage of the payment period for the period of enrollment completed is the total number of calendar days in the payment period or period of enrollment for which the assistance is awarded divided into the number of calendar days completed in the period as of the day the student withdrew. A repayment situation may occur when a student receives aid as a disbursement to cover living expenses and ceases attendance. Sacramento State must determine if the disbursement was greater than the student’s living expenses up to the withdrawal date. Additional information concerning the Return of Title IV calculations is available in the Financial Aid Office. |
