The Serna Center
The Serna Center opened in 2003 and is named after the late Sacramento Mayor and Government Professor Joe Serna and the late university administrator and Ethnic Studies Professor Isabel Hernandez Serna who, like the Center itself, were dedicated to political activism and engagement, academic access and excellence, and service to the community.
Mission Statement
Consistent with the lasting vision of Joe and Isabel Serna, the Serna Center aims to encourage policy and political knowledge, activism and engagement, student access and excellence, and community service.  The Center’s primary but not sole focus is Chicana/os and Latina/os in the Sacramento region.
