For the first two weeks of every semester, Sacramento State hosts Club Days. Many of our over 300 student organizations set up tables or booths in the Library and Main Quads, the South Green Lawn in front of the WELL, and along the Shasta Hall walkway toward the Residence Halls to promote their semester activities and membership opportunities.
For club leaders, we take reservations for each semester at the Booth Selection Lottery, two weeks before the semester starts. Booth location reservations are by lottery and are only taken in person. All of the details and expectations for both Booth Lottery and Club Days are in the Student Organization Handbook.
The Spring Lottery was aheld on 1/9; clubs can come directly to SO&L if they need to sign-up for a space for Club Days.
Individuals needing reasonable accommodations for disability access are to contact SO&L at 916-278-6595, at least 5 business days before the event.
Club Registration and Renewal
Each Fall all student clubs and organizations must renew their recognition at Sac State. Part of that renewal requires that Presidents, Treasurers, and other Officers must attend a Nuts and Bolts workshop between August 25-September 30th. If they do not, recognition of their organization will not be given/renewed. The process for both new or returning clubs to gain and maintain recognition is outlined in the Student Organization Handbook.
Community Service Projects
Every Fall semester, SO&L hosts a service project event to provide an opportunity for our Hornet Family to outreach and improve a part of our local community. As a part of our partnership with the United Way Week of Caring, Sac State faculty, staff, students, and friends volunteered at the McKinley Park Rose Garden and Tahoe Park in October.
Additional service opportunties can be found on the Leadership Initiative calendar.
Cultural Clubs Fair
Student organizations and campus centers that focus their mission on creating cultural awareness and appreciation of diversity at Sac State provide a vibrant and welcoming environment to our students through the Cultural Clubs Fair hosted by SO&L each semester.
The Spring 2017 Cultural Clubs Fair will take place on Wednesday, February 15th from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Library Quad.
Student Organizations & Leadership hosts Hornet Markerplace each semester where vendors come to campus. The money made from the vendor spots goes toward SO&L programming, such as our leadership conferences or awards ceremony.
The next Hornet Marketplace will take place May 1st-3rd in the Library Quad.
Each September students, faculty, alumni, and staff join the Herky and our President in the Library Quad to take the annual "Swarm Day" campus photo. The photo, updated every year, is used in University publications and on the website as the “face of the campus” and reflects the spirit of the University.
The 2016 Swarm Day photo took place on Tuesday, Sept 6th at 11:45am. Check back for the 2017 date!
