AN INFORMATION SHEET FOR MAJOR PROGRAM ADVISORS

B. Catalog rights rules: (Catalog, pp. 56 & 78)
1. Freshmen: Have a choice of entering or graduation catalog for the major program and for GE. Separate catalogs may be chosen for the major and for GE. Continuous enrollment must be maintained. (Continuous enrollment is defined as enrollment at least 1 semester or 2 quarters per calendar year in a community college, CSU campus, or other accredited university.)2. Transfer: With continuous enrollment, there is a choice of three catalogs for the major and for GE. Separate catalogs may be chosen for the major and for GE. The CSUS Catalog in force at the time of:
- Entering community college or another CSU System campus- Entering CSUS
- Graduation
C. GE Program, major program overlap rules: (Catalog, pp. 68 & 77)
1. A minimum of 24 (36) total units and 12 (18) upper division units, specifically, in the BA (BS) major must not be overlapped with another major or minor.2. A maximum of 6 lower division units of coursework from the major department may be overlapped with the GE Program. (Lower courses from other departments that are used in a student's major program may be overlapped without limit.
3. No upper division units of coursework from the curriculum of the major department may be overlapped with the GE Program, whether or not the units are used to satisfy major requirements.
4. Overlap rules exist which are specific to particular major programs.
5. Advanced study course applicability to major. A chart listing departments which allow an advanced study course in their curriculum to be used to satisfy their degree requirements is available online in the frequently-asked questions document of the Academic Advising Center. http://www.csus.edu/acad/faq.htm
