The College of SSIS Spring 2016 Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, May 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Sleep Train Arena. Bachelor's Candidates are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m. Master's Candidates are asked to arrive at 10:00 a.m. Doors for undergraduates open at 10:30 a.m.
What do you need to do in order to participate in this ceremony?
1. Sign up in the Dean's Office (AMD 255) or on-line (below).
2. Order your cap and gown at the ASI Student Services office (3rd floor, University Union).
3. To make sure your name will appear in the program, contact the Commencement office at 916-278-4724.
Petition to Graduate/Program info:
Registration with your college does not guarantee your name will appear in the program. The appropriate petition to graduate forms must have been filed with the University Registrar. (February 1 for Fall graduation and October 1 for Spring/Summer graduation.) For more information on petitions to graduate please click here.
All students who attend the Commencement Ceremony will have their names read out loud by a Faculty Presenter from the College of Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies. When you arrive there will be a card on your seat for you to fill out. Please be sure to print your name clearly on the card and provide a phonetic spelling if your name is difficult to pronounce.
Sacramento State is pleased to announce that the Spring 2016 graduation ceremonies will be recorded, captioned, and posted on the Commmencement website 8-10 days after the ceremonies. Visit the official Commencement website at csus.edu/Commencement to link to the recorded ceremony and to access each College’s archived event.
GradImages will take photos of you and your classmates during the ceremony. Pre-register your contact information at GradImages to receive a coupon to save $5 when you order images after the ceremony. You will receive an email when your photos are ready to view and order or check gradimages.com. Images will also be available through the University’s social media channels including the Sacramento State Facebook page and the Sacramento State Alumni Facebook page.
Commencement is an alcohol-free event. The hosting venue does not allow outside alcohol on premises for Commencement. For everyone’s safety and to insure that all participants enjoy this special occasion, we ask that graduates and guests refrain from bringing alcohol onto the property. Apparent intoxication or impairment imposes on others and may preclude participation in the ceremony.
For safety reasons, balloons, Silly String, fireworks and beach balls are prohibited. There are no provisions at the assembly area for coats, purses, or other valuable personal belongings. Guests are to remain in the seating area where they can take pictures.
Parking at Sleep Train Arena is $15.00 per car (cash only). Carpooling is recommended.

Graduates with disabilities who need special accommodations should contact their college and the Office of Services to Students with Disabilities prior to the commencement ceremony.
Reasonable accommodations will be made for all guests with disabilities. Prior to commencement, we ask that you contact the Commencement Office by emailing email@example.com or calling (916) 278-4724 with your name, college, phone number, email address and the names of the disabled guests. On graduation day, please have them locate the Special Guest Services Table on the second floor of Sleep Train Arena.
Sacramento State commencement staff will escort your guests to reserved seats. Due to space limitations, disabled seating is only reserved for the disabled guest. Family members can meet the disabled guest back at the Special Guest Service table when the ceremony has concluded.
A sign language interpreter is on the stage during each ceremony and can be viewed on the arena’s video screens.
Guide dogs are allowed in the arena. Guests should bring their guide dog’s certification and be prepared to present the certificate to arena security at the entrance. No other animals are permitted.
