Academy of Distinction and Honor

Welcome to SSIS's Academy of Distinction and Honor. The Academy recognizes publicly the outstanding achievements of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the College. In many cases, an education in one of SSIS's programs has laid the foundation for a career or activity that has had a major impact on one's community. We wish to honor alumni and students whose efforts have significantly influenced their social and/or professional communities. We also wish to recognize faculty and staff who once worked in the college and who clearly had a profound influence on our students. Finally, we wish to acknowledge the generous efforts of those in the community who have helped SSIS and its programs fulfill their potential to offer the best education to our students and to build bridges between Sac State and the region.

Induction into the Academy of Distinction and Honor occurs in the Fall of each academic year. Nominations may come from SSIS departments or from elsewhere and should be directed to the SSIS Faculty Council (care of the Dean's Office) by March 1 of each year. Nominees should have a distinguished record of personal achievement and service such that their induction shall bring honor and distinction to the university. At its first March meeting of the year, the Council will vote on the matter of the induction of each nominee into the Academy.

Consideration for induction into the Academy is open to all except those currently employed at Sac State.
