Professor Alexandre Kimenyi Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Alexandre Kimenyi (1948-2010), a professor of Ethnic Studies and a Pan Africanist at California State University, Sacramento, was a founding member and patron of the Friends of Rwanda Association. He was a renowned African linguist, an accomplished scholar and prolific writer/poet, advocate of justice and activist in the struggle to raise awareness about Genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda, and educator of global understanding and prevention of Genocide and human rights violations.

Students from any Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies (SSIS) department meeting the minimum Grade Point Average requirement, and otherwise in good standing, are eligible to apply to the scholarship. The application deadline is Friday, May 31, 2013.
