The Policy, Evaluation, and Research Consortium (PERC)
The Policy, Evaluation, and Research Consortium (PERC) aims to enhance the quality of decisions made by government, nonprofits, and other entities. PERC offers a wide range of applied research assistance to organizations that seek data-driven information to better understand the environment in which they operate and to enhance service to their constituencies.
PERC draws upon the knowledge and technical expertise of four applied centers at Sacramento State University, providing clients with practical and useful information, products, and services across a broad range of subject areas. Collectively the centers conduct research and policy analysis, provide facilitation, collaboration, and strategic planning services, sponsor events to promote public engagement with current topics, and provide technical assistance to organizations in their respective fields. PERC activities are coordinated through the Dean’s office in the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at Sacramento State where a top priority is to bring different types of resources together to most effectively serve the community.
PERC comprises these four centers:
The Center for Collaborative Policy builds the capacity of public agencies, stakeholder groups, and the public to use collaborative strategies to improve policy outcomes through multi-party consensus-building and dispute resolution, participatory public engagement processes, and long range strategic planning and visioning.
EdInsights improves policy, practice, and leadership for postsecondary readiness and success by conducting research, evaluation, and technical assistance to produce actionable recommendations for educators and policymakers.
The Institute for Social Research conducts public opinion surveys, performs program/policy evaluations, and provides a comprehensive list of data analytic services (both quantitative and qualitative) for government agencies, non-profits, and the academic community.
The Center for California Studies strengthens democratic governance in California by preparing people for public service and leadership, helping to solve problems of public policy, and enhancing civic literacy.
