Entitlement Programs

Entitlement programs are called that because anyone who meets the government's criteria is entitled to the benefits.  That would include most safety net programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, etc.


  • The official government site on Medicare is pretty user friendly and meant mostly for recipients.
  • This NYT  fact check looks at current proposals on Medicare.  Note that this is an editorial, not printed in the straight-ahead journalism part of the paper.  Though the facts are accurate, it does come with a point of view.
