WRITING TUTOR SERVICE GUIDELINES
SIGNING UP WITH A TUTOR
- Upon referral for Writing tutorial from the SSWD Counselor/Specialist, an eligible student may sign up for a one hour block of time, with no more than two hours TOTAL scheduled for the week. SSWD's writing tutoring service is available for undergraduate coursework only.
- Appointments cannot be made more than two weeks in advance.
- If a student is 15 minutes late for his/her tutoring session, the tutor may work with a drop-in for the duration of that time.
ATTENDANCE
Students with more than two unexcused absences for tutorial sessions will be required to meet with one of the tutors to discuss attendance before they are allowed to sign-up for additional time with a tutor. An unexcused absence is defined as failure to communicate to the writing tutors at least one hour before the prearranged tutoring session regarding an absence. Repeated no-shows will result in that student losing the privilege of reserving time with a writing tutor and would then receive assistance on a drop-in basis only.
STUDENT PREPARATION
It is important that the student arrive prepared for the tutoring session, otherwise, he/she will be wasting valuable time for themselves and the writing tutor.
Cross Reference: Academic Tutor Service
