Summer Undergraduates Research Experience (SURE)

Faculty and undergraduate students work together on research or other scholarly projects during summer months. Two forms of support are available to students: 1) Project Grants are available for up to $500 for supplies, equipment, services and travel directly related to activities for conducting the project and 2) Stipends of $500 for undergraduate students who will be doing research full-time for 4-10 weeks during summer months. The award is open to any undergraduate student with a declared major in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. http://www.csus.edu/nsm/research/SUREaward.stm

PSM - Professional Science Master's : Stem Cell Research

A 20-month program of advanced coursework and paid internship prepares graduates for immediate success as Laboratory Managers (high paying jobs with potential for advancement in a growing number of Stem Cell and Biotechnology Laboratories) or Doctoral candidates in applied biosciences. http://www.csus.edu/nsm/programs/PSM.stm

The Mathematics Blended Program

The Mathematics Blended program is designed for students who are interested in becoming mathematics teachers at the secondary level and also receiving a California Teaching Credential. http://www.csus.edu/math/courses/BlendedProgram/blended.htm

Secondary School Teaching Credential

- Get a B.A. in a science Department with additional coursework in Bio/Geol/Chem/Phys

- Test for proficiency in all subjects

- Apply for the credential program

The Internship Alternative

- Get a B.A. in a science Department with additional coursework in Bio/Geol/Chem/Phys

- Test for proficiency in all subjects

- Apply for an internship at a school and get credential while teaching
