Building the STEM Pipeline Summit
Partnerships for Innovation
April 2, 2007

The Sacramento region is burgeoning with high-tech industries that require an educated workforce in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This summit was designed to lay the foundation for strengthening the P-20 STEM pipeline in the Sacramento region and, in doing so, building a stable STEM workforce for our growing high-tech economy. Our combined efforts showed that the region is capable of powerful collaborations between industry leaders, educators, community representatives and governmental officials.

Some of the regional goals identified at the summit include:

  • Positioning the Sacramento region as a leader in science and technology
  • Ensuring an abundance of qualified STEM employees/students
  • Promoting diversity and addressing changing demographics in the region
  • Engaging the entire community in learning about science and technology
  • Establishing working partnerships between industry and education
  • Combining our efforts to establish measurable goals for STEM success
