Friday, April 29 - Student Academic Showcase
9 am - 4 pm University Union, Sacramento State - various locations

Students will compete for a scholarship by identifying a documented problem in their field of study and by presenting a unique, actionable solution to improve, address or ameliorate the issue.

9a-12p – Student posters and competition; Judging takes place.

Students will receive one or two 15-minute appointments with 2 regional employers. You will receive an email with your confirmed appointment time. 

1-4p – Showcase Showdown - The top 7 projects in each dimension in undergraduate and graduate categories will be invited back to present the same speech to all community partners/judges. One undergraduate and one graduate winner will be selected. Winners will be announced Sat., 4/30 at the lunch between 12-1 pm. 

Two scholarships will be awarded: one $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate student or team, and one $1,000 scholarship to a graduate student or team.

Our judges are community partners--employers in our region who will hire Sacramento State graduates. They will decide which project is unique, innovative and actionable and stands out from the rest, and deserves to win each scholarship.

Community Partners include: CA Wellness Plan/CA Department of Public Health, Child Abuse Prevention Center, Federated Insurance, Golden 1, Intel, Intertribal Council of CA, Kaiser Permanente, MetroEDGE, Power Inn Alliance, Raley's, Sacramento City Unified School District, Sacramento City College, Sacramento KINGS, Safe Credit Union, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, and World Financial Group.

Campus Partners include: Guardian Scholars, Dreamer Resource Center, Department of Physical Therapy, College of Continuing Education, Dining Services, Housing & Residential Life, Parents & Families Program, Student Academic Success & Educational Equity Programs, English Department, Student Health & Counseling, The WELL, and Student Organizations & Leadership.

Why: A visual aid will help you communicate your point to judges.

Poster Specs: There is no required size for your poster, or requirement for content. We recommend 2 feet x 3 feet. At a minimum, the poster should include a title, your name, major, a problem statement, a solution statement, and images that support your point.
