Hot Topics in this Issue....

We realize this is a stressful time of the semester with exams and major projects due around the upcoming Thanksgiving Break.  Be sure to take care of yourself,  get as much rest as you can, exercise, practice good hygiene and try to eat well.

As always, if there is anything those of us in Student Activities can do to assist you in supporting the development of your club or organization, please let us know.  This is why we’re here. Our offices will be closed on November 11th for Veterans Day and again on November 26th and November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Enjoy the upcoming break!

Doc and MAIDU Funding

The ASI Board of Directors is committed to creating and sustaining a vibrant campus life at Sacramento State. This mission can not solely be carried out by the organization, but requires the aid of the greater campus community. To that end, it gives the ASI Board of Directors great pleasure to announce that the MAIDU Grant will be available for the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year.

The MAIDU Grant Fund was created in honor of the Native American nation that inhabited the Sacramento region including the land that Sacramento State resides on, and is a unique source of funding for student clubs and organizations that choose to collaborate on campus events. All MAIDU eligible events must take place on campus and must be sponsored by at least three student organizations and one campus department or program.

If your campus coalition wishes to be considered for funding, please electronically submit your completed packet to www.OrgSync.com (ASI Government Office Club) no later than Monday, November 16, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Packets will not be accepted after the deadline.

If you have any questions, please contact Cassiopeia@csus.edu.

Student Leader Profile

Name: Stephen J. Le Sieur
Major: Organizational Communications
Leadership Position: President

What are your career goals?

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about what I would like to do when I graduate Fall 2010. Becoming a successful professional Bass Angler is at the top of my list of career goals. I am also interested in a career with Sac State in some capacity, possibly in Student Activities or Public Relations.

What is your biggest accomplishment as a student leader?

I feel my biggest accomplishment as a student leader was the ability to put together a successful club team in such a short amount of time. I am also married, and work 40+ hours a week.

I was also able to secure over 8 sponsors that have given our team money and supplies throughout the year. We have been featured on the “Fish On Insurance Website” and the front page of the SacBee outdoors section. We have won over $14,000 this year, of which $7,000 has gone to Sac State. I am also very proud of my team which all work very hard at school, work , and fishing.

Why do you choose to be involved?

I wanted to make a difference in my life and the lives of others. I love meeting new people and helping others. I wanted to get involved with my school and promote Sac State and Bass Fishing as a sport. I’ve been fishing my entire life. My grandpa and grandma always told me to get involved and live life to the fullest. I am just taking their advice.
