WPG FAQ

To qualify for the WPG makeup exam date, students must first register for the regular test online. All requests should be directed to the Writing Programs Office by 12pm on the Monday following the original exam date. Visit the GWAR website for more information on submitting your makeup request. The WPG is offered two times a year. For additional test dates and other information on the WPG, please visit the Writing Programs Office website www.al.csus.edu/gwar. The Writing Programs Office may also be contacted at 916-278-6409 or send an email to  english@csus.edu.

If you are registered with SSWD, you must submit your request to receive accommodations for the WPG exam. You will need an approved letter specifically for the WPG. If you do not submit your request to SSWD by the registration deadline, your accommodations may not be approved in time and you may not receive the accommodations you need.

If you are a student taking classes through CCE and need Special Accommodations for the WPG, you must first contact our office at 916-278-6296 or send an email to testingcenter@csus.edu  to confirm that you would like to take the WPG with Special Accommodations. You must then contact the  Office of Human Resources at 916-278-6078, let them know you have registered for the WPG exam and that the Testing Center will need a copy of your Accommodations Letter.

If you did not register correctly for the WPG exam, please send an email to testingcenter@csus.edu so that we can correct your registration.

If you are trying to sign up for the WPG exam but the registration system says it is full, please log out of the registration, close the browser, and try to register again.

If you are still not able to register for the WPG exam, please contact the Testing Center at 916-278-6296 or send an email to  testingcenter@csus.edu.

The WPG test fee is $20.00.

Your exam fee will be posted to your MySacState student account within 24 hours. Fees should be paid within 72 hours. Fees will be accepted in person at the Bursar's Office until 5:00pm on the last day of registration or online until the Sunday after registration ends. Here are your payment options:

  • Paying in person at the Bursar's Office, located in Lassen Hall room 1001. Normal Fall/Spring/Winter office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Summer office hours are 9:00am to 4:00pm. In-person payment will be accepted through 5:00pm on the last day of registration.
  • Paying online through your MySacState Student Center, choose Account Inquiry, then click the green button to make an online payment. Additional fees will apply. The best option to choose is the credit card option, which has an additional charge of only $0.55. Online payments will be accepted through Sunday after the registration deadline.

After you register, in the middle of your confirmation page, you can sign up for a one-hour informational workshop by clicking on "Register for a WPG Workshop".

If you are already registered to take the WPG, you can sign up for a one-hour informational workshop by logging back into the WPG registration. Once you have logged in, you should be directed to your confirmation page. At the top of the page, you can sign up for a workshop by clicking on "Add Workshop".

Yes, you can cancel your WPG workshop and re-register for a different date and time by logging back into the WPG registration. Select the link "Register for a WPG Workshop" and simply follow the instructions.

No, you are not required to attend a WPG workshop. It is simply an informational session offered to give students a better understanding of what to expect on the exam.

No. We do not accept walk-ins and we cannot admit students after the registration ends. You are required to bring two photo IDs. Examples of acceptable ID are current CA driver's license or ID card, Sacramento State OneCard, valid passport with your signature, or military ID all with a recognizable photo. Unacceptable forms of ID  include a Social Security card, credit card (including one with your photo), birth certificate, any form of ID on an electronic device, etc.

You may also bring pens, pencils, highlighters, whiteout, and a dictionary. You cannot bring cellphones or other electronic devices, notes, aids, or a thesaurus.

If you are taking an exam and are not familiar with our campus, you should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to park, find the reporting location, and check in. You should also park in Parking Structure 1, as it is the closest parking structure to Lassen Hall. You will also need to purchase a daily parking permit.
