The
University Foundation at Sacramento State (formerly
the CSUS Trust Foundation)
As
of July 1, 2006, the California State University, Sacramento Trust Foundation has
been renamed The University Foundation at Sacramento State. For 20 years,
The University Foundation at Sacramento State has served as the University’s
primary philanthropic foundation, and the new name better reflects this
important role.
The University Foundation was established in 1986 as the CSUS Trust
Foundation to acquire and manage financial and other resources for the
University. Its founding was a key step toward strengthening the fund-raising
program at Sacramento State. It oversees gift funds to Sacramento State,
which are held in non-state accounts, audited annually and invested
prudently. It is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization and a recognized
auxiliary of Sacramento State.
Since its establishment, Sacramento State friends have responded strongly.
The University has raised millions in private support, and in 1998 celebrated
its 50th anniversary by successfully completing a five-year, $50 million
fundraising campaign.
That support is vital to enhancing the quality of education for future
Sacramento State students. While taxpayers have been generous in their
support of Sacramento State, state funding is no longer sufficient.
More and more each year, Sacramento State becomes a "state-assisted"
rather than a "state-supported" institution, depending on
private funding to provide the margin of excellence.
The University Foundation's volunteer board of directors exemplifies
the strength of regional support for the University. Members of the
board represent a broad cross-section of prominent professionals and
business leaders who offer their specific areas of expertise to broaden
fund-raising opportunities for the University.
Each board member feels that Sacramento State has enriched and enlightened
his or her life, and that the University is a vital player in the economic
and intellectual life of the Capital Region.
The University Foundation at Sacramento State board members believe
Sacramento State is a good investment. Gift dollars at Sacramento State
do not have to be used for utilities or salaries, since state funds
already provide that. Every dollar donated to the University adds a
full dollar of excellence to Sacramento State programs.
