Carolynn Goetze, Ph.D
Chair, School of Nursing
Our School of Nursing faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges now and into the future. We educate some of the brightest students at Sac State, and we are also called upon to respond to an anticipated shortage of professional nurses. Our response means maximizing our limited resources and identifying new sources of support.
For more than 50 years, our School of Nursing has educated the highly skilled nurses our region and California residents need. Majority of our graduates (53%) remain in the Sacramento region and 85% reside in California. They are clinicians, advocates, researchers and educators who enjoy an outstanding reputation among employers, patients and the community. Undoubtedly, the Sacramento State School of Nursing has a significant impact on healthcare in Sacramento and beyond.
Our funding comes from many sources including the state, grants, tuition, sponsorships, alumni and friends. Support from alumni and friends allow us to achieve our next level of excellence through The Campaign for Nursing.
Campaign goals for faculty positions, scholarships and emergency funds for students, cutting-edge equipment and technology, and faculty and program support can only be achieved with your help. Your financial contribution is key to our success.
During this time of opportunity and challenge, I invite you to consider the importance of quality healthcare in your life. And, if you’re in the area it would be a pleasure to show you around our state-of-the-art facility, as I am sure you will be fascinated by the growth that has taken place recently. I hope you will join us and support the School of Nursing.
