IRT Desktop Support
Welcome to Information Resources and Technology (IRT) Desktop Support. Our misson is to provide resources and services to make your campus computing safer and more productive. We offer technical support, consulting, related computing and system resources to faculty and staff at Sacramento State University.
Hardware
IRT publishes the minimum hardware
recommendations for desktop and laptop computers at the beginning of each semester. The Hardware link provides
current information and resources to assist you in making purchase decisions
of recommended computers, printers. Desktop Support provides additional hardware and
software services
including
set-up, software installation, configuration, and
migration of user data to new workstations.
Software
IRT also publishes
corresponding administrative software baseline recommendations at the beginning of each semester. Desktop
Support provides current software, vendor and license information, and
download links to faculty, staff, and
students for installation of various software titles. Software titles are accessible based upon
AD permission groups, the software license requirements and campus agreements.
Security - Spam, Spyware, and Viruses
Desktop Support works hard to increase security
awareness and mitigate problems regarding security, spam, spyware, and virus
problems. The security links on the left provide important information to all
campus users to help avoid loss of productivity and data due to operating system
and application vulnerabilities, internet-generated threats, unwanted programs,
and other annoyances. For immediate

System Repair
Desktop Support provides hardware and software repair
services to campus-affiliated faculty, staff, and students.

Data Recovery
Desktop Support provides limited data recovery
services to campus-affiliated faculty, staff, and students. For immediate

Data Protection
Desktop Support provides best-practice recommendations to faculty, staff, and students to
protect their work and school data from theft and catastrophic
failure by using regular backup
and security strategies.
