About University Labs
A dedicated team of staff and student assistants from University
Computing and Communications Services strives to provide a consistent,
reliable and customer-friendly computing lab environment for the students,
faculty and staff of California State University, Sacramento. Computer
lab facilities managed by this group include the Student Computer Labs:
Academic Information Resource Center 2004, Library 2000, Mendocino 2004/2008, Mendocino 2003/2007 and Solano 2001/2003.
To view lab information such as lab hours, locations, floor plans,
regulations, software listings, and other useful information you may
click on the links on the right of each page. Each student lab computer
is equipped with 1.4MB floppy, DVD, CDRW and 250MB zip drives and 2
high speed USB 2.0 ports accessible on the front panel to attach external
devices such as memory sticks and digital cameras. High-speed
black-on-white duplex laser printing is available in all student labs
through the PrintSmart
system.
Students, faculty and staff using their valid SacLink account name
and password may access network services, and have a long list of installed
software available to them. In addition, students, faculty and
staff may load programs or data onto a University Labs work station
from the network or from local media. Shared file space is available
on the lab servers. Note that data stored to the local work station
hard drive will be lost anytime the work station is shut down. Data
stored in the shared file space will be deleted by University Labs personnel every
Saturday, and could be deleted by anyone at anytime who has access to
the shared drive space. Users are responsible for the security of their
data and use these resources at their own risk.
Student employees staff each University Lab during its hours of operation. Their primary mission is to provide friendly customer service within the limits of their training and abilities. Lab assistants will be able to answer most of your questions concerning the commonly-used campus applications (SacLink, CasperWeb and WebCT). In addition, some lab assistants are pleased to share their knowledge of more specialized software with you. If they don't know the answer to your question, they will try to get it for you. Our goal is to provide the maximum cost-effective availability to meet demand for services.
