Antivirus Overview
Viruses are computer programs written with the intent to cause harm. That harm might come in the form of destroying or divulging data, wasting network bandwidth and storage resources and/or loss of user productivity.Viruses spread quickly using e-mail or other internet services and have the potential to cause considerable damage and loss of productivity. Thus, it is important to protect the university community from the spread of viruses.
Our campus has purchased antivirus software to protect all aspects of the campus network including the e-mail gateway, e-mail servers, file servers and desktop computers. The campus e-mail gateway, e-mail servers and file servers are regularly maintained by UCCS analysts with current antivirus software.
It is important that campus desktop computers be protected as well, and that protection is each user's responsibility. Please use the links to the left to find the antivirus resources you need to protect your desktop systems. For assistance please contact the Help Desk.
