Chargebacks are for the recovery of costs for services provided by one University campus unit to other users in the Campus Community for which the provider does not receive a central budget allocation to cover, such as telephone usage. This policy authorizes the use of chargebacks, as approved by the President, to recover the reasonable expenses a University campus unit may encounter when providing unfunded services to the Campus Community. The term services include the products/equipment required to perform the service as well as associated personnel expenses.
It is the responsibility of division Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Chairs, Directors, and Program Administrators to ensure that prior to charging the Campus Community for services provided for which they do not receive a central budget allocation to cover, they have submitted a request to charge for such service to the University's CFO or designee for review and have received the President’s approval. The University Chief Financial Officer and his/her designees are responsible for the administration of this policy.
This policy applies to all University campus units that charge for services provided to the Campus Community for which they do not receive a central budget allocation to cover. This policy does not apply to the charge for services provided by the University’s recognized auxiliaries or the Alumni Association, which are governed by their respective boards, nor does it apply to the University’s enterprise funds which are governed by Executive Order 1054.
