PREPARING THE ANNUAL DISCLOSURE OF CRIME STATISTICS

Policy Statement:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Crime Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092) (“Clery Act”), the University is required to collect and report Clery crime statistics on an annual basis as part of its Annual Safety Report (ASR).  This report can be found at   http://www.csus.edu/police/cleryact.htm

This policy provides guidelines and procedures for collecting and reporting Clery crime statistics for the ASR.

Who the policy is applies to:
This policy applies to all individuals who are designated to prepare the ASR on behalf of the University as well as all University employees who are solicited for information for the ASR.

Why the policy is necessary:
This policy is in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Crime Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092) (“Clery Act”) and provides guidance and structure for collecting and reporting crime statistics from the appropriate agencies and departments.

Responsibilities:
The University Police Department, or other designated campus entity, is responsible for collecting, compiling and verifying statistics received from Campus Security Authorities (CSA’s), local law enforcement, and off campus properties or facilities owned or utilized by the University.
