OUTSIDE & ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT POLICY FOR
MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL PLAN EMPLOYEES

Policy Statement:
The purpose of this policy is to clarify when employees under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) may engage in additional employment and how the campus will calculate the limit of twenty-five percent (25%) above a 1.00 full-time time-base for additional assignments unrelated to MPP employees’ primary work assignments as described in HR 2002-05.  In addition, the policy outlines the requirements of MPP employees regarding reporting outside employment pursuant to HR Letter 2013-11.

Who the Policy applies to:
All Management Personnel Plan (MPP) employees.

Why the Policy is necessary:
HR 2002-05 sets the limit on additional employment for MPP employees to twenty-five percent (25%) above a full-time time-base but does not provide clear guidance on the process for approving additional employment or calculating the twenty-five (25%) maximum.  This policy provides guidance on process, places limits on time spent on additional employment, and sets forth the basis for calculating the twenty-five percent (25%) maximum.  In addition, the policy states the reporting requirements for MPP employees engaging in outside employment.

Responsibilities:
Responsibility to implement this policy will be as designated by the Provost and the Vice President to their respective staffs.

Procedures:
