EATING AND HEALTHY WEIGHT PROGRAM

The overall goal of this program is to help students develop a Personal Health Plan that will guide them to healthier living. The Personal Health Plan puts you (the student) in charge of actively reducing your risk factors for disease and encourages you to take steps necessary to improve your health and fitness levels; subsequently increasing your energy, strength, and overall well-being.

The Eating & Healthy Weight Program will offer the expertise of:

   • An Exercise Physiologist who will assist students in achieving their
     fitness goals.
   • A Health Psychologist trained in the treatment of eating disorders,
     health psychology, and stress reduction.
   • Registered Dietician thoroughly trained in principles of nutrition,
dietary needs and weight control will provide nutritional counseling.
   • And the Health Education Assistant will work collaboratively with
other members of the team to advance the health of students
through educational presentations, outreach programs & working
directly with students individually and in small groups.

In summary, the program will be medically supervised and provide a wide range of services that will address concerns ranging from eating disorders, sedentary lifestyles, sport performance, weight loss and obesity. Students will have the opportunity to learn sound and healthy eating habits and enjoy the benefits of working with professionals to maximize their physical fitness and their outlook on body image. The Student Health Center offers the Eating & Healthy Weight Program to enrolled students at no cost. This program is funded through your mandatory health fee.
