ACADEMIC
USE OF UNION
Adopted February 14, 2002
GENERAL STATEMENT
The University Union is generally not available for academic functions. Exceptions
can be made on an occasional basis when deemed appropriate by the Union Director.
GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES
As a facility funded primarily by student fees, and as the Union receives no tax
support or other academic funding, and as use of the meeting rooms or public areas
by academic classes would preempt those non-academic functions for which purpose
the Union operates, and as regular academic facilities are available for academic
use, these Union facilities may generally not be utilized for conducting regularly
scheduled classes.
Occasional exceptions may be made by the Union Director for special circumstances
such as power outages or temporary loss of classroom space. When that occurs the
cost of providing space will be charged to the University General Fund.
