Best Workplace For Commuters!

In its 2006 State of the Air report, the American Lung Association listed Sacramento 7th in the list of 25 most ozone-polluted cities in the United States. Sacramento placed higher than Dallas, TX (8), New York, NY (9), Philadelphia, PA (10), Cleveland, OH (16) and Pittsburgh, PA (17). At Sacramento State, we are working to do our part to lift our city out of the 25 most ozone-polluted cities list. Sacramento State was among 60 area employers the federal Environmental Protection Agency listed as a Best Workplace for Commuters in 2005 and again in 2006. The employers were recognized for their extraordinary efforts to improve the quality of life in our region, reduce area traffic and protect the environment by making it possible for their employees to use good commuting practices. Sacramento State in particular was recognized for the Hornet Express Shuttle service and Sacramento Regional Transit bus/light rail pass subsidy, offering a Guaranteed Ride Home program through the Sacramento TMA, being located near bus and light rail routes, having accommodations for bicyclists, as well as having preferential carpool parking.
