“America's First Great Awakening”
by Ronald Moore
Ronald Moore wrote "America's First Great Awakening" in History 170: History of Religion. His instructor, Phillip DiMare, asked students to explore a period of religious significance in American History, the Great Awakening, in a mid-term essay exam. Ronald says that he went through a process of planning, writing, and revising, and you can get a glimpse of his writing process by comparing his rough draft and his final draft. Professor DiMare and the reviewer for Writing the University felt that Ronald's proposal is, in Professor Di Mare's words, "an ideal example of writing in the discipline of the academic study of religion."
