Sacramento State, the California State University and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church once again teamed up to promote the importance of a college education to prospective students, their families and educational leaders. An educational summit, “Returning to Our Roots to Educate Our Children,” was held Saturday, June 7, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sacramento.

President Alexander Gonzalez was a keynote speaker at the annual Chavez Youth Leadership Conference on Saturday, March 29, at Sierra College. Gonzalez addressed the attendees—mainly sixth to 12th graders, and their parents—in the College’s Dietrich Theatre and encouraged them, through personal anecdotes and his experiences as a university professor and president, to stay on the path to college.
