This Is The Page Title <h1>
Here is your normal paragraph text. In Dreamweaver sometimes people think that their normal text should have no formatting and they set the format to "none". THIS IS BAD! Proper use of paragraph tags are essential to clean and meaningful web content!
Question: How do I make a new paragraph?
Answer: If you are using Dreamweaver, whenever you press enter you are closing your current paragraph and are ready to make a new one.
There are rare occassions...
And I do mean rare...
That you will press shift+enter...
This will give you a line break within the current paragraph you are typing.
Please remember that shift+enter is the exception and not the rule. And NEVER hit shift+enter twice to get the same effect as starting a new paragraph tag. Although it might look similar it is not!
What is this funny looking Box? It's a paragraph <p> with a "note" style. What should you use this for? Paragraphs only. You can use line breaks if you like but make sure you use shift return or your content will appear in a separate box!
And of course, use line breaks sparringly! It is not semantically correct to use line breaks in place of creating new paragraphs.
Section One: A new Header <h2>
Donec gravida congue mi. Integer id sem. Proin consequat facilisis risus. Aenean vehicula felis in massa. Suspendisse potenti. Sed ultricies ullamcorper eros. Nullam pulvinar. Sed convallis lacinia quam. Pellentesque felis. Aliquam eleifend euismod lacus. Sed nunc est, tristique at, consequat nec, ultrices faucibus, nisi. Aliquam aliquet nulla euismod purus.
Block quotes should be used to quote people and text. Pay attention to the <blockquote> tag. Do you see how it is different than the <p> with "note" style. The <blockquote> is actually its own element. This means you can actually put paragraphs inside of it.
In fact, you better do just that unless you have a pretty compelling reason not to.
What? Thought just because you were quoting someone you get through good XHTML markup out the window?! No way.
Callout Box 2!?
It is probably best that you keep usage of the callout box to a minimum but it depends on the situation.
A Third?!
No, this is not a third callout box actually. We simply applied the <h3> within the current box. In some cases this will make more sense than having multiple callout boxes and look nicer.
Always Remember...
Look at the code view to understand the usage of the calloutbox <div>. And call the web services team if you have any questions!
