World Language Day :: April 29, 2006

"Give Your Word and Touch the World through Language"
WHO:

Foreign Language students from high schools, community colleges in Sacramento County, Placer County, El Dorado County, Yolo County, Foreign Language instructors from these high schools, CSUS language students and professors from the Department of Foreign Languages.

WHAT:

A day of workshops and Special activities - art, music, dance, drama, literature, and technology.

WHERE:

CSUS campus - Mariposa Hall, Eureka Hall, Library Quad, and other outdoor venues.

WHY:

To promote foreign language proficiency, to support language teachers in the teaching profession, to give language students an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, to provide a variety of cultural activities, to enable students to communicate in the target language in an authentic language context, to make connections through language and travel, to explore communities, to make comparisons.

The Department of Foreign Languages is a leader in the teaching of world languages and instrumental in teacher training and pedagogy in second language acquisition in the Sacramento area. This event supports our mission to teach and promote foreign language proficiency.
