About Us
The Women's Resource Center (WRC) is an ASI funded program which is available to all CSUS students, faculty and staff regardless of gender, gender identity, age, race, religion, economic or marital status, sexual orientation, educational level or (dis)ability.
Mission
The mission of WRC is to confront sexism and promote gender equity through education, advocacy, and social actions. The Center develops programs on campus designed to increase the awareness and understanding of the contributions, opportunities, and barriers facing women in our society.
Programs
In collaboration with other campus organizations and university programs, the WRC works to insure that the concerns, issues, and interests of women students are addressed in ways which are conducive to the successful completion of their education.
The Women's Resource Center is staffed by a full-time Coordinator, a full-time Violence and Sexual Assault Support Services advocate, and a full-time administrative assistant. All other positions are filled by student assistants and volunteers. Through these
services and programs we offer campus and community resources concerning topics relating to women's issues such as: child care, psychological counseling, substance abuse treatment programs, women's health, sexual assault, domestic violence, and financial
management. WRC sponsors support groups addressing a variety of issues. The groups vary from semester to semester based on interest and have included topics such as: feminist consciousness raising, coming out for lesbian women, issues of single parents, stress
management, separation and divorce, body image, and re-entry students' support group.
The WRC also receives postings from a number of employment placement services and maintains a current listing of student job vacancies on and off campus. The Center also serves as a child emergency notification site for student parents.
In addition, we sponsor various events on campus such as the annual Women's History Month in March, the CSUS Women Take Back The Night in April, and Queer History Month in October. We also sponsor and co-sponsor various speakers on campus. Also, various student
groups hold their meetings in our conference area.
The Violence and Sexual Assault Support Services program is housed also in the Women's Resource Center. This program was established to create awareness, to coordinate and centralize services for victims, and to educate the university community. We provide educational programs to the campus community on sexual assault issues, domestic
violence issues, and hate crime issues. We also provide advocacy for victims of these crimes who are part of the CSUS community. Please click here for more information about this program.
