Advising Council

This Council spawns from a recommendation of the Communication and Coordination subgroup of the Advising Taskforce commissioned by President Nelsen last academic year. The purpose/mission of this Council will largely be determined by its members, but at the foundation, it is to serve as a communication vehicle for Sac State’s advising community. Additionally, the Council will collaborate to support the University’s strategic goal(s) to Increase Graduation Rates, Decrease Time to Degree, and Reduce Remediation.

There is a lot happening in our community – program changes, new technology, success centers, new professional advisors, leadership changes, and so much more. It is very easy to get caught up in our day-to-day work and focus on “our own students." However, I believe we all understand the inter-dependent nature of our work and the critical importance of maintaining open and consistent lines of communication. In an effort to support all of this, the Advising Council was formed.

Having your “voice” at the table is paramount. If there is someone else that you think should be included, please let me know and I am happy to reach out to them.
