Canvas Apps

Current Canvas Apps

As part of the initial Canvas implementation, the Academic Technology Center worked to configure all the external apps/tools* available in SacCT (Blackboard) to work in our Canvas environment. These tools include apps such as Turnitin, Respondus, and publisher-created content. Below is the current list of these integrations in Canvas along with their status and links to further information.

*App/Tool refers to technology that improves the functionality of the Canvas system, usually provided by third-party vendors. Common terms for this technology include add-in, application (app), enhancement, integration, LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) and tool.

Zoom Cloud Meetings

Zoom offers both meeting and webinar software for video conferencing, online meetings, and mobile collaboration.

The Canvas-Zoom integration has been updated. Students can access a list of upcoming and previous sessions and easily join sessions from the Zoom link in the Canvas course menu.

If you have cloud recording enabled, students can access recorded sessions from this updated integration.

However, please note the following limitations with this update:

  • Calendar events are not generated with the creation of a Zoom session.
  • Student access to recordings is not available from the "Previous Meetings" tab. If Cloud Recording is enabled for the faculty member, the Cloud Recording tab displays, but the recordings are not visible to students. Workaround: Faculty can post the recording URL in a Module/Page or email the link to the students.
  • Faculty cannot edit meeting settings (i.e. topic name, date, time, duration, other settings) directly within a Canvas course. Workaround: Edit these settings externally from the Zoom admin website. Recurring sessions can be edited, the occurrences date, time and duration can be edited as well as adding a new occurrence to the recurring meeting.
