MBA Admissions Exam Information

Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) Graduate Record Examination® (GRE®)

The GMAT exam is managed by the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) and is a computer-adaptive exam specifically designed for admission to graduate business management programs. The test assesses skills most relevant to those needed to succeed in a graduate management program and is used by schools as one predictor of academic success when determining applicants' qualifications.

The exam is comprised of four sections:

  • Integrated Reasoning
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Analytical Writing Assessment

Sacramento State uses only the Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning sections in its admission criteria. A minimum percentile of 30% overall, 30% Quantitative Reasoning, and 30% Verbal Reasoning is required for applicants with less than 5 years of professional, managerial work experience.

The GRE General Test is a standardized admissions exam managed by ETS and designed for general graduate school admissions. It is accepted by various graduate programs as well as by some business schools and law schools.

The exam is comprised of three sections:

Sacramento State uses only the Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning section in its admission criteria. A minimum percentile of 30% Quantitative Reasoning and 30% Verbal Reasoning is required for applicants with less than 5 years of professional, managerial work experience.
