MBA Application Checklist

Applying to a business graduate program can seem challenging.  Please use this application checklist and the downloadable instructions therein as you navigate the application process. If you have any questions about the application process, admissions requirements, or other inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Keep in mind that you are not only applying to the College of Business but also the University Office of Graduate Studies. You must submit documents to both offices.

 

1. Complete the online CAL STATE APPLY Application

  • Pay the $55 application fee AND press submit in order to be considered an official applicant

2. To the College of Business Administration MBA Program Services you must submit:

  • One (1) set of unopened, official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, even if it was only one course. Please send transcripts to:

3. To the Sacramento State Office of Graduate Studies you must submit:

  • Another set of unopened, official transcripts to:

Transcripts Notes & Tips:

  • If you are a Sacramento State alumni, you only need to submit transcripts not previously submitted to the university. If you only ever attended Sac State, we will be able to retreive your transcripts for you. 
  • If you did not attend Sacramento State in the past, you will need to submit official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities that you have ever attended (even if it was one class).
  • Have all official transcripts sent directly to your home address. Keep the transcript sealed/unopened so it is still considered official, then write a cover sheet that includes your full name, contact information, and the semester and degree program to which you are applying. Put the cover letter and sealed transcripts from all the universities you attended in an envelope and mail one to each of the offices listed above (MBA Program Services [MPS] and the Office of Graduate Studies [OGS]).
  • You also have the option to drop off your transcripts to MPS and OGS to ensure timely delivery.

 

4. Submit your supplemental application documents

  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
  • Student copy of GMAT or GRE score
  • Current Resume
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Headshot Photo

 

Below is a step-by-step guide that should help you to successfully apply to our MBA program.

Steps Description
1. Complete the Online Graduate Application (CAL STATE APPLY) for our MBA program
  • Complete the online application via CalStateApply
  • Note: You must pay the application fee of $55 and press the SUBMIT button to be considered an official applicant.

2. Create a SacLink account
  • An email will be sent to you approximately one week after you submit your CAL STATE APPLY application. The email will come from the University Office of Graduate Studies and is titled, “Sacramento State – Graduate Application Received." There are instructions within that email on how to create a SacLink account.
  • All applicants will need a SacLink account in order to request letters of recommendation and upload additional application documents.
  • Please read the entire email and click the link to upload your supplemental documents through the "GradsUp" portal using your MySacState/SacLink account. 
3. Request a Letters of Recommendation
  • Our program requires that applicants submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation. For instructions on how to request letters of recommendation, please CLICK HERE.
4. Upload required application documents to MySacState
  • For instructions on how to upload your supplemental application documents, please CLICK HERE.
  • The following documents are required to be uploaded to MySacState:
    • Student copy of GMAT or GRE scores
    • Current Resume
    • Statement of Purpose
    • Headshot Photo
5. Mail unopened copies of all official transcripts
  • You must send transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended to our office (MBA Program Services), and the Office of Graduate Studies

6. Headshot
  • All applicants must submit a headshot photo. Upload the photo per the instructions in step 4 above.
    • Your headshot photo should meet the following requirements:
      • Only you are in the photo
      • The photo is taken in an appropriate setting
      • You look professional and presentable
      • Your face is easily discernable
7. International Applicants
  • International applicants must answer 'Yes' to the question, "Do you have a U.S. visa?" on the Cal State Apply application. Answering 'Yes' indicates that you currently possess a U.S. F or J visa OR that you intend on obtaining one.
  • Please make sure to submit your whole application package no longer than February 1, 2019, including supplemental application documents (resume, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, student biography, headshot photo and official transcripts)

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

    Official English Proficiency Score Report (Institution Code: 4671)
    TOEFL - Minimum of 80 iBT 
    IELTS - Minimum of 7.0 Band Score 
    PTE Academic Score: 65

8. In-Residence applicants with foreign transcripts
