MSA Application Checklist 

 *We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our CalStateApply process.  Please send us an email, so we can provide additional instructions. 

Please note you must submit documents to two different offices listed in A) and B) below.

A) To the College of Business Administration Executive and Professional Programs (EPP) Office, submit the following:

1. MS Accountancy (MSA) Program Supplemental Application

2. Mail One (1) Set of Official Transcripts*. (see Mailing Address below)

**Transcript Tip:

If you are a Sacramento State alumni, you need to only submit transcripts not previously submitted to the university.

If you did not attend Sacramento State in the past you will need to submit official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities that you have ever attended (even if it was only one class).

3. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Scores or GMAT Waiver Petition on file

Exam must be taken or Approved GMAT Waiver Petition must be filed by the application deadline date. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you take the GMAT within one month of the deadline, you must scan and email the unofficial GMAT Scores you are given on the day you take the exam to


4. Recommendation Form Waiver

Recommendation Form Waiver You must complete and sign the waiver and submit it along with the Recommendation Form to your recommender.          


 5. Two (2) Recommendation Forms

Your recommender must email the Recommendation Form with your Recommendation Waiver attached directly to cbagrad@csus.eduPLEASE HAVE YOUR RECOMMENDER INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME, SEMESTER AND DEGREE TO WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF THE EMAIL. Example: "Recommendation for Ralph James Smith Fall 2014 MSA Applicant"


6. Current Resume

7. Student Bio and Photo Submission Form

Email this form AND attach a photo of yourself to the email in jpeg format directly to:

Please note: The student bio and photo requirement is utilized to create a welcoming and functional network and online community, encouraging interaction with your peers and faculty, and to help you get the most out of your academic experience in the MSA program. The information contained in the bio, and/or non-submission of a photo or bio does not influence or impact an admission decision in any way.


B) To the Sacramento State Office of Graduate Studies, submit the following by the Application Filing Deadline:

 1. On-line CSU Graduate Application (CAL STATE APPLY)**

**Do not submit/attach items to the Cal State Apply application website at this time. Our campus is in the process of implementing connectivity between the application and our existing campus systems. Any items/documents you upload to the Cal State Applyapplication will not be reviewed with your application. 

Approximately 3 business days after submitting your application, you will receive an email from the Office of Graduate Studies containing a confirmation of receipt of your application, information regarding the process to create a SacLink account, and further instructions for the next steps. 

You only become an official applicant once your online application is submitted.  You can submit your statement of purpose, which is the last question on the application, directly to the CBA (via email ONLY to Just make a note on your application in the Statement of Purpose section "submitting directly to the CBA office".

2. $55 Application Fee

Paid on-line when you file your application. You must pay the application fee and press the SUBMIT button to be considered an official applicant. 

3. Mail one (1) Set of Official Transcripts (see Transcript Tip below) to the following address:

Please Note: Applicants with foreign documents must visit the OGS website to find out which additional official academic records are required (mark sheets, diploma supplement, Certificado de Notas, etc.). Applicants who attended foreign institutions are required to submit transcripts one month prior to application deadline, in order to allow time for foreign credential evaluation.

**Transcript Tip: Have all official transcripts sent directly to your home address. If you keep the transcript sealed it is still considered official. Please then write a cover sheet that includes your full name, contact information and explains in which semester and to which degree program you are applying. Put the cover letter and sealed transcripts from all the universities you attended in an envelope and mail one to each of the offices listed in A and B above.

Please Note: Applications are not considered complete and will not be reviewed unless  all required documents including GMAT scores and Official Transcripts have been received.

International Students:

International students will not be issued an F-1 student visa for the MSA program as it is a completely online program. You may apply but you will not be issued a student visa to come to the United States.

To ensure consideration, please follow the above application checklist.Transcripts should be submitted at least one month prior to the above CBA application deadlines.


The University requires a minimum TOEFL score of: Paper based test (pbt) score of 550, computer-based version (cbt) score of 213, and internet based (iBt) score of 80.

California State University Sacramento interprets “where English was the principal language of instruction” to mean that a school is located in a country where English is the native language (the daily medium of communication of the majority of residents is English), and that the students receive academic instruction in all subjects (except foreign language courses) at all levels of education in English.
