The Student Investment Fund ACCEPTS APPLICATIONS from students to participate as Security Analysts at the start of Fall and Spring semesters.

Applications have to be submitted by the end of the day on Wednesday of the 2nd week of the semester to Dr. David J. Moore via e-mail, david.j.moore@csus.edu. Applications should include:

  • Resume
  • Letter of Interest
  • Unofficial Transcripts

SIF members will be selected based on Interviews. Interviews will take place on Friday of the second week of the semester.

Requirements for Security Analyst Applicants:

  • attend weekly meetings on Mondays, 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., AIRC 1013
  • maintain business major at CBA while participating in the SIF program
  • become a member of SIF Sac State club
  • commit to two semesters of participation and register for 3 credit hours in the second semester for FIN 199 (Special Problem in Finance) or MBA299A (Special Problem in Finance)
  • have taken FIN 101 (Business Finance) and received a grade of B or above
  • currently enrolled in one of the following finance classes at CSUS: FIN 134, FIN 135, FIN 136, MBA 220, MBA 222, and MBA 223

Student Expectations:

  • Motivated to work independently and in groups
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, and the ability to utilize in-depth research expertise and synthesize large quantities of information
  • Committed to investing the time necessary to succeed in the fast paced field of investment

Students are invited to join as Interns:

  • Student are welcome to join as Interns to gain relevant experience if they cannot meet the general requirements to become Security Analysts, no application is necessary
  • Interns are welcome to start attending weekly meetings from the 3rd Monday of the semester, 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., AIRC 1013
