Information for Faculty

The CEC helps facilitate Academic Internships in several ways.  As of Academic Year 2016-2017, the university requires that all organizations which cooperate with the university to sponsor academic internships establish an Academic Internship/Service Learning Agreement with the university.  If a faculty member informs the CEC that they would like to supervise an internship, the CEC:

  • Works with the Community Partner and the office of Procurement and Contract Services at Sacramento State to create an Academic Internship/Service Learning Agreement if one does not already exist;
  • Can visit a potential community partner site and complete the required Site Assessment form which is then submitted to Procurement and Contract Services;
  • Meets with faculty and Community Partners, if desired, to help identify the potential scope of work for students;
  • Provides an online database (CECconnect) that allows faculty to place students at Academic Internship sites and address issues of risk managementwhen students complete the online orientation associated with CECconnect, they meet all university requirements for risk management/liability assumptions, FERPA release forms, and code of conduct training, and are also provided with time logs and emergency contact forms for internship supervisors.
  • Provides a mechanism for assessing students’ experiences with the Academic Internship.
